Artist Statement: Authoritarian Chairs
A couple of years ago I was in a downtown Oakland gallery where I saw this chair. Thinking it a very authoritarian looking chair I snapped a digital picture from a supplicant's point of view.
Later I began to play with the image, first seeing it as king and queen, then as the sources and results of Authoritarianism. Repression is a self-defeating form.
